Umana Yana

We were passing through Albany NY - and stayed downtown. We decided on dinner at Umana Yana since it had several vegetarian dishes on the menu. We had the tofu satay and it was delicious. The tofu was nicely seasoned and lightly fried so that it had a slightly crisp exterior. It was served on kebabs over a bed of rice. Clearly a lot of love went into the making of this dish! Yum.

My table of 2 ordered the yucca puffs as an appetizer, which were well seasoned, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. For our main dishes we ordered the red curry fish tacos and the injera plate with chicken. Everything was super tasty, and fun to eat. I think my favorite part of the meal was the fish tacos. This was a great experience because everything tasted amazing while also being easy to share. The servers were very kind and attentive as well. I enjoyed the experience of eating here and will be back again for sure!

I wish I could bring Chris, Ariel and Umana Yana with me everywhere I go. They’re infectious and might be the sole reason I return to Albany. This place is the best!

Very nice variation of foods here. Almost like an Ethiopian-Caribbean fusion restaurant. The spices and herbs compliment the fresh ingredients quite well.

Amazing food and beautiful space. We had haddock bites, as an app, jerk lolipop lamb chops, and a steak tip disd with plantains (in a leaf bowl). Everything was wonderfully spiced with a variety of flavors. We've been several times and the food always impresses.
